7:00 PM – EVENING PROGRAM @ Hazel Wolf Campfire Circle
Master of Ceremonies: Carol Kohler, Vancouver Audubon

  • Introductions and Announcements.
  • Roll Call—Shout out for your Audubon chapter or other nature-loving organization. Represent!
  • Field Trips and Reports—Liz Brown, Pilchuck Audubon. A review of schedules and final leader recruitment.
  • Species Tally and Sightings Report—Michael Hobbs, Eastside Audubon.
  • Guest Speaker—David Droppers, professor and Lepidoptera lover presents “Moths: Really Interesting Bird Food.” Moths are not defenseless as birds battle to consume them. David will discuss the weapons moths have developed in response to predation pressures, then lead a moth identification program afterwards.
  • Good of the Order—Comments, suggestions, questions, memorials and any other contributions.

  • Guest Speaker—Ed Dominguez, lead naturalist at Seward Park Audubon Center, presents “Birds of the Night”. Owls, poorwills, and Common Nighthawks are all present at Wenas. Ed will discuss their habits and habitats and lead a walk afterwards to look and listen for these elusive birds.
  • Good of the Order—Final species count tally, comments, suggestions, questions, memorials and any other contributions.

  • Evening Social Time. Some campers choose to stay another night to fully enjoy the peace and quiet of Wenas. If you are staying Monday night, join fellow campers at the final gathering, where we unwind, enjoy adult beverages (or not), reflect and dream!
